Ms. Ungerman is licensed to practice in all California Courts, both trial and appellate, the U.S. District Court, Eastern District, and the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  For over 15 years she primarily worked on the defense side of civil litigation, successfully representing defendants, including public entities, in various employment-related matters such as defamation and wrongful demotions and terminations, disability discrimination and accommodation, business disputes, real estate litigation, and personal injury actions.   She once successfully defended at trial a big rig driver who had died prior to being served with the lawsuit. (Fortunately he had left behind a tape recording of his version of the accident that was admissible into evidence.)  As a result, she knows how defendants think and defend cases.
She also has provided recommendations to employers on various employment matters to hopefully avoid litigation.  She provided legal assistance to Java City in its real estate and employment issues from 1999 to 2004.   In 2002 she began also representing plaintiffs in personal injury and employment-related matters.   Beyond achieving many successful settlements for her clients, in 2004 she obtained a $4.8 million dollar jury verdict (which turned into a $6.1 million dollar judgment) for a client who had been wrongfully terminated due to her pregnancy and taking of pregnancy-related leave.  This judgment was affirmed in full by the Third District Court of Appeals.   In 2005, Ms. Ungerman opened her own law practice, primarily aiding clients subjected to illegal discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour violations, retaliation, business disputes, license revocations, and civil rights.

In addition to her trial experience, she has appeared before both before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Third District Court of Appeals.  She  represented Respondent Grant High School District in the published opinion of Patten v. Grant, 134 Cal. App. 4th 1378, a case regarding retaliation for whistleblowing under Labor Code Sec. 1102.5, and successfully defended the aforementioned $6.1 million dollar judgment in the Third DCA.

Her goal is to work hard and passionately for each client she undertakes to represent, to communicate with them regarding their case and the legal issues presented therein, to problem solve, and to arrive at solutions that are the best for them, whatever that may be.   She has successfully negotiated numerous settlements and severance agreements for clients who otherwise would not have done as well.

Ms. Ungerman is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA) and CCCTLA (Capital City Trial Lawyers).  She is BV rated by her peers through Martindale-Hubbell, a national rating service.   Click on the URL below for more information on the rating system:
